Nepalese Handmade Hemp Blend Paper

(0 review)
Handmade 20" x 30" deckle edge paper sheets crafted in Nepal's Himalayan mountains. The paper is made from a blend of fibers from wild-grown lokta shrubs (also known as Daphne) and left over hemp stalks from textile production. Both plants are eco-friendly, regenerative and sustainable. Nepalese handmade paper is made by women through small community-based cooperatives in rural Nepal using millennia-old traditional paper-making practices. The community-based cooperatives provide employment in remote mountain villages and help to preserve traditional paper making skills while supporting local economies. The paper is un-dyed, air-dried  in the open mountain air and made using only natural fibers, water and sometimes soda ash.

These handmade lokta/hemp paper sheets have so many uses! They are great for all kinds of arts and crafts projects like book making, invitations, painting, drawing, and more! Since the sheets break in instead of break down, they make excellent durable gift warp and tissue paper that can be used several times while still looking great. Your imagination is the limit!

Sold by individual 20" x 30" sheet in either 15 gsm or 40 gsm weights. Must select weight when ordering. Due to the paper being hand made, there is some variation in dimensions and weight between sheets and the occasional inclusion of natural debris. Shipped rolled.
